Basketball Medals in the Olympic Games
The basketball was introduced as an olympic sport in Berlin 1936. From the beginning it was dominated by the USA National Team, that won the first seven golden medals. NBA players weren't allow to participate in the Olympic Games until 1992 when Barcelona was the witness of the best group of players ever to play in the same team, the original and incomparable "Dream Team" of Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Charles Barkley and the list goes on. The US players won 12 of a total 16 golden medals but their dominance has decreased with the time and the things are not so easy for them as it was in the past, to the point that the current champion Argentina, guided by Manu Ginobili gave them a lesson of collective basketball in their way to the gold in Athens.
